How long does it take to grow?
Aloe seeds take 14-28 days to sprout.
Basil seeds take 7-14 days to sprout, and will be ready to start harvesting in 2+ months. Continuous harvesting will encourage a bushy plant and greater yield.
Daisy seeds take 14-21 days to sprout and will bloom depending on temperatures - flowers are triggered by warmer temperatures.
How long will it last?
A mature plant will continue to grow for many months with sufficient nutrients and light.
How much sun will it need?
Aloe thrives in temps between 72°-76°F and with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight (an unobstructed south or west-facing window is best). Starting in Mar-Sept will provide longer days and thus optimal light. If starting during cooler months, it’s recommended that you supplement natural light with a grow light (fluorescent or LED).
Flowers require at least 6 hours of direct light daily, and should be put in an unobstructed window that faces south, west or east (southwest is the best option). During winter months—or if you don’t have an unobstructed window—you can supplement with a grow light.
Herbs require at least 6 hours of direct light daily, and should be put in an unobstructed window that faces south, west or east (southwest is the best option). During winter months—or if you don’t have an unobstructed window—you can supplement with a grow light.
Can I put it outside?
This Grow Kit is designed to grow a mature plant; however, you can transplant the plant into a pot or the ground for a larger and more robust plant. Transplant outside into a location with full sun after the threat of frost has passed, and sprouts are at least 2” tall. Harden off plant for 5-7 days by placing it outdoors in partial sun during the day, and bringing it indoors at night.
Is the kit reusable?
The ceramic vessel and recycled glass grow medium can both be reused—simply rinse with hot water. Add new seeds and use soil or coco pith to help seeds germinate. Use a water soluble fertilizer and follow its instructions.
