From Our practices to our products

steps to a more sustainable us

Our mission is to connect people to plants, which ultimately leads to healthier people and a healthier planet. But wait, there’s more! As a business we make a million tiny decisions each day about how we make and deliver products. We approach these as opportunities to learn, improve and do more good than harm to our planet.

Garden Jars

Our new net pot is made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic from domestically-sourced bottle caps, so we’re taking something that otherwise would end up in a landfill and making a useful, repeat use component from it.

Grow Lights

Our Grow Frames are hand-crafted in the US to reduce the carbon footprint of importing large goods. In addition, the LEDs last up to 3 years, and we offer an at home LED replacement kit to extend the useable life of your Grow Frame.

Seed pops

While most party favors and small gifts are made from single-use plastic, we designed our Seed Pops to be plastic-free. Not only that, they inspire even the youngest among us to fall in love with gardening.

Packaging

what's on the outside matters

We want every product you choose to be beautiful, functional and sustainable. We do our best to opt for plastic-free paper packaging. As we’ve learned over our years in product design, sometimes coating is essential to the function of an item, but many times it’s just an aesthetic choice.

Then, we work with suppliers that are willing to help us find better materials. These efforts help keep plastic out of our packaging and out of landfills.

packing materials

you can recycle that

We avoid packing peanuts and bubble wrap and opt for recyclable brown kraft paper and molded pulp protectors in our outbound packages. We also use paper tape, so shipping boxes can be recycled.

sustainably minded

always growing, always improving

Our desire to encourage purposeful planting is as strong as our desire to be better; for people, plants and the planet. Since our start in 2013, from our practices to our products, we continually strive to do more good than harm everyday.

Innovation

We launched our new Dissolving Plant Food Sheets — made from sustainably sourced seaweed, which grows without land, without chemicals, and without fresh water.

Rich in trace minerals, natural growth hormones and bioactive carbohydrates, seaweed helps your plants absorb what they need, when they need it, how they need it. Good for plants, good for the planet.

we ask a lot of questions

and we welcome yours, too!

Since we’re not a massive corporation, we don’t necessarily have the clout to force large manufacturers into eco-friendly materials and practices. So, we ask a lot of questions to find partners with our same commitment to protecting the Earth before we place orders.

We also welcome questions! Wonder how or why or where we do something? Don't hesitate to reach out anytime!
