POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As the Ecommerce & Digital Marketing Lead for Modern Sprout you will be a fierce customer advocate, constantly improving the Modern Sprout digital experience to meet the needs of our customers. You will collaborate with the eCommerce Director to build out a digital strategy for modsprout.com, Amazon and other online marketplaces. You will manage the day-to-day of our shopify store, Seller Central account and all digital marketing channels (paid search, paid social & email) in order to drive growth for the Modern Sprout brand. This position will collaborate with internal and agency team to improve our site experience and to deploy media across channels. They will also work closely with Modern Sprout’s team of in-house and agency-based creatives. Reports to eCommerce Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identify and implement online digital tactics to drive consumer acquisition, conversion, and loyalty
• Manage the overall user experience including site navigation, UX strategy, checkout funnel, retention strategies, onsite merchandising and promotional campaigns
• Collaborate with dev agency to implement new technology within Shopify as needed
• Develop reports and provide frequent analysis of buyer behavior, product sales, marketing campaigns, and platform performance to identify opportunities for growth, ROI, performance, and track trends
• Manage Amazon accounts and Amazon partners; including catalog and product optimization, paid media, reviews, third party reseller enforcement
• Collaborate with eCommerce Director to create promotional offers across our online sales channels
• Analyze traffic to inform website maintenance and the effectiveness of marketing strategies
• Manage and optimize paid media spend - Google, Facebook, display and retargeting and make recommendations for shifts in strategy and new platform testing
• Optimize product category and detail pages for conversions
• Assist in managing agencies and partners to efficiently and effectively execute digital plan
• Keep a pulse on product availability and lagging products to create strategies to drive online revenue
• Collaborate with fulfillment and customer service teams to create an optimal user experience across all Modern Sprout touch-points
• Work cross-functionally to create and support automation- and process-optimization tools
• Manage email marketing program in Klaviyo including flow optimizations, campaign planning and list management; collaborate with creative in execution of design and copy
• Collaborate with eCommerce Director and creative team to inform content improvements and asset creation, deploy updates and optimization

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:• 2- 3 years of experience in various ecommerce and digital marketing functions ideally including prior experience with an entrepreneurial fast-growth product or CPG company
• Strong analytical skills, able to identify trends and learnings in order to take action
• Strong business acumen with attention to numbers and budget management
• Proven track record in implementing effective digital marketing programs
• Experience working with a wide range of ecommerce platforms and apps including Shopify, Klaviyo, Google Analytics, Amazon Seller Central
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and proactive with a strong desire to dig into the details
• Strong team player with a positive attitude
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field
• Live the brand – Green thumb and love for plants a major plus!

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:• Full-time, salaried position in our Chicago office with flexibility to work remote/hybrid.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As the Contract Copywriter for Modern Sprout you will be responsible for creating engaging copy for a variety of mediums. You will collaborate with the Founder and eCommerce Director to further clarify the brand tone of voice and bring it to life through a number of mediums including product copy for our website and wholesale partners, brand content for our blog and social channels, and marketing copy for digital programs and in-store packaging and graphics. You will also work closely with Modern Sprout’s graphic design and product design teams, to tell rich stories that complement the product and brand aesthetic. Reports to eCommerce Director. Role is 10-15 hrs/week on a contract basis, with potential to transition to full-time in the future.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write and edit copy that is creative and on brand and ranges from quippy marketing copy to more technical long-form content, dependent on the channel for the following purposes:
o Email marketing and paid social campaigns
o On-site marketing assets to guide customers through a clear journey
o Product copy for modsprout.com and retail partner sites to meet requirements of each site
o Packaging copy that is digestible and brand appropriate
o Printed wholesale catalog
o Organic social media posts
• Optimize content to maximize SEO value across modsprout.com
• Collaborate with Graphic Designer on campaign concepting and execution for direct sales channels
• Work with our Customer Service lead to understand the needs of our customer, and adjust copy to address
• Stay engaged in the latest trends for the indoor and outdoor gardening space with an interest in learning about horticulture from houseplants to outdoor edible gardening and offer suggestions for Modern Sprout to evolve as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:• 2- 3 years of experience in copywriting for an in-house or agency creative team
• Proficient, detail-oriented copywriter with demonstrated knowledge of eCommerce best practices
• Familiar with interiors and gardening trends
• Equal parts creative writer and smart marketer
• Ability to communicate technical copy in a way that’s approachable and warm, while still positioning the brand as an expert
• Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with relevant software tools such as Asana and Slack
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and proactive with a strong desire to dig into the details
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing or related field
• Live the brand – Green thumb, love for plants and gardening knowledge a major plus!
