This year-round indoor planter comes equipped with everything you’ll need to start growing, just add water and set in a sunny window.

How long does it take to grow?

White Spruce seeds take 10-20 days to sprout, and will slowly grow over the course of several years.

How long will it last?

The Spruce will continue to grow with sufficient nutrients and light. Trees grow slowly, but in turn provide years of enjoyment! The coco pot can be transplanted into the ground to grow a full size tree. To learn if your region is conducive to growing Spruce trees, please contact the Master Gardening extension office in your state.

How much sun will it need?

Consider the time of year and your region’s climate. Spruce thrive in temps between 45°-75°F and with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Starting in Mar-Sept will provide longer days and thus optimal light. If starting during cooler months, it’s recommended that you supplement natural light with a grow light (fluorescent or LED). Can I put it outside?

Garden Jars are designed for indoor use, but can be put outside. Be mindful that the planter does not have a drain hole, and if the reservoir floods it may drown the roots. Bring your Garden Jar inside if temps dip below freezing.

How is it reusable?

The recycled glass grow medium and polypro wick can both be reused—simply rinse with hot water. Add a new coco pot, seeds and use soil or coco pith to help seeds germinate. Use a water soluble fertilizer and follow its instructions.
