How long can I wait to purchase or start a bulb kit?
Winter Bulb Kits have limited availability. The bulbs are living organisms and should be started upon receipt for the best results and no later than March 1st.
How should I store the bulb kit before i’m ready to gift it?
Before being started, store bulb in a cool, dark place.
How long does it take to grow?
Grow time: 6-8 weeks; bloom time: 3-4 weeks.
Why isn't my bulb growing?
If roots haven't started growing in 10-12 days, place vase in fridge until they do. (This may take up to 5 days). Bulbs can also rot if they come in contact directly with water. It is imperative that you follow the instructions and keep the water level low - no more than 1" from the base of the vase.
How much sun does it need?
Amaryllis need minimal light, which make them successful in a wide range of regions and dwellings. During the initial growth phase exposure to sunlight on a windowsill. Once blooms start remove from direct sunlight and place in a color location to preserve blooms.
Can I replant the bulb?
Yes. After the final bloom of your flower fades away, cut the stem off right above the bulb. Move your plant to a warm and sunny window to encourage new leaf growth. Water regularly and fertilize the plant once monthly with a soluble fertilizer formulated for potted flowering plants. During the summer the bulb will store energy for the next bloom. Stop watering your amaryllis 12 to 14 weeks before the desired bloom time. Place in a cool area (ideally 55 degrees) and remove the dead foliage from the bulb as it occurs. Allow bulb to completely dry out. After about eight weeks of dormant storage your bulb is ready to be replanted.
